The Blackadder Episode Guide
(contents wittier than title)
Welcome to the Blackadder episode guide (contents wittier than title). My name is Justina and I've been a fan of Blackadder since I was 14 ( a grand total of 7 years ago). I'd most definitely heard of Blackadder before the first time I watched it, but never really got around to it due to the fact it was never on TV and I couldn't afford the videos, until one day in History when my teacher wanted to show us how stupid and horrible wars are, yet keep us amused. The episode we watched was Goodbyeee from Blackadder Goes Forth. I was already a big fan of Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson for their small contributions to the world of children's entertainment via Mr Bean and Maid Marian and her Merry Men so it was a great chance for me to see them in a more mature show. Mature? I was so very wrong.
It was a gorgeous mixture of standard slapstick, sexual innuendo and hidden jokes that you never figure out until you hunt them down. Jokes the audience obviously missed, but that you do, and can sit at home and smile to yourself, pleased to be smarter than they. I saw a few more episodes of Blackadder thanks to UK Gold, a fantastic channel for reliving old TV shows that have been put to pasture, but still rake in enough viewers to be allowed onto the screen. Heaven knows, not every programme can be as enthralling as Big Brother and the Lotto's Saturday Night Giveaway (insert sarcastic tone here).
But, with my new DVD collection of the entire series, I can watch Baldrick recite his war poems, hear Flashheart shout "Hooray!", and see King George search for his socks anytime I want. Provided I'm near a DVD player or computer. Yet I'm disappointed that there are so few Blackadder fan websites, let alone a thorough episode guide. Or perhaps Google hides them. Still, I wanted a new project to keep me amused and these are the final results.
Contained within these pages are not just step-by-step, action-by-action, word-for-word guides, but also histories of events and other characters featured such as Sir Thomas Moore and King Richard III. Annoyingly, these come in the form of pop-ups, so be grateful I warned you. If you're in a floating chat room as you browse around, you may find your discussion about post-Norman tongue with your friend Pyro574NY becomes a page about Queen Elizabeth's drinking habits.
But enough about me and the story behind this site, you want the guide am I correct? Well here we go. Click on the different Edmund for each series for an introduction to that series, or click on the episode title itself if you have just the one in mind. I recommend reading them all in order though, as I tend to refer to past episodes and jokes in the other synopsises.
